Sparring Forms

Katas (or Sparring Forms) are one of the 3 Ks used within martial arts. Kata, kumite, and Kihon.

Katas, or sparring forms, are a sequence of movements that teach fundamental techniques, builds physical and mental strength and develops muscle memory. We have different levels of Kata within Elite.

The basic starts off at 12 techniques, you need this once you are a 7th Kup Orange Belt. Further sparring forms are introduced as you progress through the belts, with the last one being introduced at 2nd Dan level.

Kata can be used as a way of expressing yourself within your sport, not only do you have to know the techniques and order but you have to demonstrate control, power and agility.
